01What this policy covers
A "cookie" is a small text file your browser stores when you visit a website. Some are essential to make a site work; others are used for tracking and advertising. We only use the essential kind. This policy covers cookies and other equivalent browser storage (localStorage, sessionStorage) — under UK and EU law these are treated the same way for consent purposes, and we cover both here for completeness.
02Strictly necessary storage
Sanctum Arcana keeps a small number of items in your browser so the site can work. These are stored using localStorage and sessionStorage rather than HTTP cookies. You cannot disable them and still use the site as intended.
- Authentication token. Keeps you logged in across pages and across visits. Stored in localStorage by our authentication provider (Supabase) under a key beginning with
sb-. Refreshed automatically; cleared when you log out. - Daily card marker. If you draw the daily card without an account, a small marker is stored in localStorage so the once-a-day rule can be enforced without us needing to identify you. Cleared when you sign in or when the day rolls over.
- Reading and ritual flow data. Temporary items in sessionStorage (your intention, timing, and tool choices) that carry your selections between the steps of a reading or ritual. Cleared automatically when you close the tab.
03Analytics
We use Plausible for analytics — a privacy-respecting tool that does not set cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not require a consent banner under UK / EU law because it does not collect personal data. Because Plausible places no cookies or local-storage items on your device, there is nothing here for you to accept or decline. Our Privacy Policy describes the aggregate, anonymous data it gathers.
You may notice that Google Search Console is associated with the site. This is a server-side tool that gives us aggregate search-traffic data from Google. It does not place any cookies or local-storage items on your device.
04Third-party cookies
When you interact with parts of the service that are hosted by our third-party providers, those providers may set their own cookies on their own domains:
- Stripe sets cookies on its hosted checkout pages, used for fraud detection and to complete payment. Governed by Stripe's cookie policy.
- Discord sets its own cookies during the OAuth flow when you choose to connect your account to the Inner Temple. Governed by Discord's privacy policy.
- Google sets its own cookies during Sign in with Google. Governed by Google's privacy policy.
These cookies are set on the providers' domains, not on sanctumarcana.life, and they are set only when you actively use those features.
05Managing cookies and storage
You can clear cookies, localStorage, and sessionStorage at any time through your browser settings. If you do, you will be signed out and may see logged-out variants of pages until you sign in again. Blocking all storage will prevent you from using parts of the site that require an account.
Most modern browsers also offer a "delete site data" control that clears everything Sanctum Arcana stores in one action. We won't try to keep you logged in if you choose to clear that data.
06Changes to this policy
If we add new cookies or storage items, we will update this page. For anything that is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent before it is set.
